Add Date: April 8

Artist: Constantines

Album: Kensington Heights

Label: Arts & Crafts

Genre: Good old-fashioned rock and roll

Comments: Before listening, I scan through the obligatory RIYL for this band, whose 2005 release Tournament of Hearts (Sub Pop) I remember enjoying. Fugazi: check, though Constantines are a little more subdued and a little less punk. ... And You Will Know Us By the Trail of Dead: certainly can see that one, minus the prog-rock of that band. But then, Bruce Springsteen!?! Well, wait a minute. "I Will Not Sing a Hateful Song" sounds like it could've been penned and recorded by the Boss himself. And while that seems to be new territory for these Canadian rockers, it meshes in well with their heavier tunes. The album's first song, "Hard Feelings," is a gem. And remember, you LOVE Arts & Crafts (Los Campesinos!, Broken Social Scene, Stars).
