Comments: South Dakota native Haley Bonar's fourth release, Big Star, is an excellent collection of folk-rock songs in the vein of Neko Case, Elliott Smith and Nina Nastasia. Bonar's penchant for great songwriting combines with her beautiful voice and a talented-but-non-interfering backing band to produce one of the best folk releases I've heard in quite a while. There really isn't a weak song on this album, but in particular check out "Green Eyed Boy," "Something Great," "Arms of Harm" and "Better Half."
