Artist: The Born Again Floozies
Album: Street Music
Label: Triple R
Genre: Experimental rock
Comments: The header of the band's web site reads "Born Again Floozies - Tap Dancer, Tuba, Guitar, Trombone and Vocals," which should tell you that Street Music isn't going to be your typical pop record. The band has been compared to a wide range of acts--from Gogol Bordello to the Squirrel Nut Zippers--further indicating how hard the sound is to pin down. So I won't try. Street Music is at times a big band stomp, and at others very sparse, but always interesting. I liked "Prince of 38th Street (Freak Flag)," "Dirt Cheap Suit" and the short instrumental "Legislate Me Straight."
