Add Date: February 24
Artist: Everything Absent or Distorted (A Love Story)
Album: The Great Collapse
Label: Needlepoint
Genre: Indie Pop
Comments: "It's a big band, and a big sound. 'The Great Collapse' is a lush and lovely collection of smart pop melancholia, filled with cathartic songs of loss and rumination arranged to induce joyful fist-pumping and all-out wall-bouncing."
-Denver Post
This rather dramatic group has been called "apocalyptic bubble gum," which makes sense, considering the number of references to death and disasters that pop up throughout the record-- for instance Track 4 is an ode to a hospital room. However, the EAOD (as they are conveniently referred to) does offer a few glimmers of hope, which actually seem more successful. Go to the anthemic "Beehive" or "Gospel of Slight Rust."
