Add Date: February 17
Artist: The Lovetones
Album: Dimensions
Label: Planting Seeds
Genre: Psychedelic rock
Comments: Fanatic tells me, "Harkening back to the likes of The Byrds and 13th Floor Elevators, The Lovetones channel the psychedelic splendor of the 60's on their fourth album Dimensions. Frontman Matthew J Tow is a brilliant Australian musician, cleverly penning some of the most genuine and impressive lyrics of the past decade as Ray Davies, Bowie, Lennon and McCartney before him." Pretty tough folks to emulate, but the songwriting on here is truly splendid, very British 60's circa New York City loft. Tow has worked with the Brian Jonestown Massacre before, but even if that makes you shudder, you'll find this a swinging collection of tunes in its own right. Tracks 2 and 3 are standouts.
