The Old Ceremony

Add Date: February 17

Artist: The Old Ceremony

Album: Walk on Thin Air

Label: Alyosha

Genre: Rock

Comments: Django Haskins seems to be of the same stripe as Stephin Merritt and Will Sheff, in the sense of great songwriters with distinctive but aurally appealing voices. High praise, perhaps, but I think you'll find it justified upon listening to Walk on Thin Air. These are excellent rock tunes, occasionally infused with folk, but always hinging successfully on Haskins' lyrics and vocals. Long a favorite at home in Chapel Hill, here's hoping this record will put the Old Ceremony on a national stage. Start with "Plate Tectonics," "The Disappear" and "Till My Voice Is Gone."

Also, is their record label named after a character from The Brothers Karamazov? I'm going to say yes, because that would make me very happy.
