Nick Curran and the Lowlifes

Add Date: February 16

Artist: Nick Curran and the Lowlifes

Album: Reform School Girl

Label: Eclecto Groove

Genre: Rock

Comments: From promoter: "Catch Nick Curran as he shakes, rattles and rolls a head-spinning combination of genres and tunes into a cool, irresistible cocktail that is rough and ready for action." This album is rock-n-roll in its ordinal form borrowing from blues, jazz, and big band; add it all up with a lot of energy and a little bit of sloppiness and you'll get Reform School Girl.

From the album art, I was sure I was going to hate this album, but the music takes a much different artistic taste than the half-naked-girl-affected-photo album art. Beach Boys, Elvis, The Who. Nick Curran sounds like these are his favorite bands. Lots of compression, lots of gain, and lots of classic reverb, that serves as an apt description of what this album wears as far as effects go. Check out 1 and 9 to start.
