Artist: Aloha
Album: Home Acres
Label: Polyvinyl
Genre: Pop, Rock
Comments: From the promoter:
"Aloha follow-up their acclaimed LP Some Echoes [2006] with a powerful album that shows the band shed their past influences and boldly step out of the shadows. Home Acres pushes the tempos and turns up the guitars, with the band's intensity sometimes overflowing into huge moments like the closing minute of 'Moonless March.' Home Acres isn't all bombastic rock though, as showcased on 'White Wind,' with ethereal harmonies floating over marimbas, reverb-soaked organs and floating strings while drummer and multi-instrumentalist Cale Parks powers the song from behind the kit. Home Acres is Aloha's most realized album to date and will definitely find a home on the mp3 players of fans of Appleseed Case, Earlimart & Broken Social Scene."
Generally enjoyable pop-rock with a bit of a Sea Wolf feel. I liked quieter "White Wind."
