Sonny & the Sunsets

Tomorrow Is Alright

Fat Possum

Rock, pop

Sonny & the Sunsets make slightly psychedelic, slightly folksy pop songs that could, in truth, only come from California. And indeed, Sonny Smith is a San Francisco native; though he's spent time in Denver and Costa Rica, his time in the Golden State shines through on Tomorrow Is Alright. With the help of a talented supporting cast, including Sub Pop recording artist Kelley Stoltz, Tim Cohen and Shayde Sartin of The Fresh & Onlys, and Tahlia Harbour of Citay, Smith has crafted a retro-sounding rock record that claims The Raincoats and Modern Lovers among its inspirations.

Start with "Too Young to Burn," the Velvet Underground-leaning closer "Lovin' on an Older Gal" and "Chapters."
