Cass McCombs

Add Date: April 26

Artist: Cass McCombs

Album: WIT'S END

Label: Domino

Genre: Folk rock

Comments: According to Stereogum, WIT'S END, Cass McCombs' fourth LP and third for Domino (Animal Collective, Dirty Projectors, The Kills) "might be his loveliest, darkest and oddest record to date". These are folk-rock tunes of the highest order, beautifully written and constructed, with McCombs' hazy vocals floating in an ether comprised of guitar, clavinet, percussion and the occasional piano, organ or synthesizer.

WIT'S END isn't for the impatient--the record's eight tracks clock in at over 41 minutes, and one of the highlights is 9-minute album closer "A Knock Upon the Door", featuring Peter Moren (the Peter in Peter Bjorn and John) on miniature acoustic guitar--but it's another stunningly beautiful collection from McCombs. Try tracks 1, 8 and 3.
