Comments: "Believer", the first single from John Maus' forthcoming LP, We Must Become the Pitiless Censors of Ourselves, has two dominant features: a huge, swirling synth line and Maus' reverb-drenched vocals. It's a healthy mix of shoegaze pop and post-punk, and a nice teaser for the album. The B-side, "Quantum Leap", is a lo-fi keyboard-pop number that reminds of me of Maus' collaborator Ariel Pink.
