Comments: Goner is reissuing Teenage Fate, the 1998 LP from Reatards, the original project of the late Jay Reatard. With 39 songs clocking in at 74 minutes, this is garage punk at its best, from distorted guitars to crunching drums to Jay’s half-sung, half-screamed vocals (and with lots of profanity, so beware the 15 DNP tracks on the LP). Listening to Teenage Fate is bittersweet—while it’s great to go back to Reatard’s early work, it’s also a painful reminder of his tragic death last year at the age of 29.
