Comments: Nearly two years after its release in Europe, the latest studio album from Swedish band Mando Diao, Give Me Fire!, is finally available here in the States. I'm puzzled by the long delay; what with their easily accessible mix of '60s-vintage garage rock and modern pop-rock, it seems like Mando Diao would've caught on here, but even a couple of major-label issues never really created a breakthrough.

That's a shame, as I always thought of Mando Diao as a much better, more interesting version of commercially successful bands like Jet or The Vines, more in line with the likes of The Mooney Suzuki or even The Strokes. And after listening to Give Me Fire!, I haven't changed my mind--this is very good rock and roll music.
