Artist: My First Earthquake
Album: Friction
Label: Self-released
Genre: Dance rock, synth pop
Comments: Synth-driven rock on Friction, the second LP from San Francisco's My First Earthquake. Lead singer Rebecca Bortman brings to mind the beautifully haunting vocals of Tahita Bulmer (New Young Pony Club), but Bortman's seemingly similar style is betrayed by lighthearted lyrics about stealing songs from Ratatat and an alleged rivalry with New Age singer Enya. Fun stuff; start with "Clone Me" and "We Float".
