Add Date: August 23
Artist: Cymbals Eat Guitars
Album: Lenses Alien
Label: Barsuk
Genre: Rock
Comments: From the onesheet: "At its core, Lenses Alien is a marriage of classic pop forms and ambient haze that makes for a stark, dusky psychedelia. [Joseph] D'Agostino's vocals... sit daringly at the forefront, and his lyrics are dark, strange, and affecting as ever. [Drummer Matt] Miller and [bassist Matthew] Whipple move the songs as a singular, powerful unit, while ornate guitars and [Brian] Hamilton's celestial organ and chiming pianos whirl across the sonic landscape."
An excellent second album for this New York band, which made a splash with its self-released debut Why There Are Mountains two summers ago. Now on stalwart indie label Barsuk, which calls them "psych-pop wunderkinds"--a fitting tag, I must say--Cymbals Eat Guitars are set to dazzle once again with Lenses Alien. Spin tracks 5, 2, 8, 6 and 9.
