Comments: The album title Her Space Holiday is eponymous, but this isn't a debut--in fact, it's quite the opposite: this is, if you will, a denouement for the 15-year project of Marc Bianchi. The promoter says: "From the early droney days of Audio Astronomy and The Astronauts Are Sleeping Volumes 1-2, to the acclaimed orchestral pop electronics of The Young Machines and The Past Presents the Future, to the stripped-down organic clap-along jangle of XOXO, Panda and the New Kid Revival, the aural and thematic aspects were constantly evolving, but the heart of the songwriting remained the constant."
Although I've only been on board since 2005's The Past Presents the Future, I'm certainly sorry to see this musical venture come to an end. And while Her Space Holiday isn't a career-encompassing narrative--if anything, it falls somewhere between the electronica-infused pop of Bianchi's mid-'00s work and the recent turn toward indie folk--it's a fitting departure. Check out tracks 2, 5, 9 and 1.
