Pepper Rabbit

Add Date: August 23

Artist: Pepper Rabbit

Album: Red Velvet Snow Ball

Label: Kanine

Genre: Rock, psych pop

Comments: From the promoter: "Inspired by their time in [New Orleans] and their time touring the country with the likes of Passion Pit, Freelance Whales, and GIVERS, Pepper Rabbit have crafted an album of haunting melodies, a psychedelic pop album perfect for the end of the summer in Red Velvet Snow Ball. Members Xander Singh and Luc Laurent incorporate 11 instruments on the record, everything from ukuleles, clarinet, horns, and a striking array of dusty analog synths. 'The Annexation of Puerto Rico' has an epic swirl, all pounding drums and acoustic guitar, and 'Murder Room' is a gloriously demented pop song about a man just trying to be alone with his thoughts."

Pepper Rabbit's music falls somewhere between the folk-infused psych pop of WLUR favorites Cotton Jones (with whom they've also toured) and the synth-laced psych rock of MGMT or Portugal. The Man. Spin tracks 6, 4, 10 and 1.
