Comments: Family of the Year is classified as "folk pop," but to me--at least after listening to the St. Croix EP--that's at least a bit of a misnomer. This is glorious, sun-soaked California pop, and the drumbeats and swirling synths and guitar lines of the title track and "Living on Love" don't really scream Americana. The other two originals, "6 AM" and "Chugjug" are more folk-oriented, while the EP is rounded out by Hooray for Earth's remix of "St. Croix".
More pop than folk, but an excellent set either way; start with tracks 1, 2 and 4.
