Comments: The Canadian pop powerhouse Sloan returns with The Double Cross, the band's 10th album. The LP doesn't quite live up to their past two releases, 2006's Never Hear the End of It and 2008's Parallel Play--but then again, those are two of the best power pop records that anyone's come out with in recent years, so the bar's been set really high. Still, this is catchy, well-constructed pop that will appeal to fans of Teenage Fanclub, Supergrass and The New Pornographers.
