Comments: When Sam, an EP from Australia's Emperors, landed on our playlist back in the fall, I noted the mix of influences that included alternative, post-punk and Britpop. Stay Frosty, the first full-length from the band, leans heavily toward '90s alt-rock--think Nirvana and Archers of Loaf, among other bands--with bits of the other styles sprinkled in for good measure.

This streamlined sound works pretty well, particularly on tracks 3, 7, 4 and 8.
