Add Date: February 19
Artist: Pascal Pinon
Album: Twosomeness
Label: Morr Music
Genre: Pop, folk pop
Comments: For their second LP, the Icelandic band Pascal Pinon pared down from a quartet to a 2-piece of twin sisters Jófrídur and Ásohildur Ákadöttir. The album, fittingly called Twosomeness, is a brilliant slice of folk-tinged pop, with songs that are paradoxically fragile and sturdy. Everything that you like about Icelandic music can be heard here: Björk is obviously a major influence, while Alex Somers--half of the duo Riceboy Sleeps with Jónsi, Somers has also worked with Jónsi's rather famous band Sigur Rós--recorded and produced the album.
Between the sisters' stunningly beautiful harmonies--with songs in both English and Icelandic--and the atmospheric folk backdrops, Twosomeness is not an album to be missed. Start with tracks 1, 2, 11, 5 and 4.
