Ty Segall & Mikal Cronin

Add Date: February 19

Artist: Ty Segall & Mikal Cronin

Album: Reverse Shark Attack (reissue)

Label: In the Red

Genre: Rock, garage

Comments: From the promoter: "Several years before wunderkind Ty Segall would become garage rock's most sheepish overachiever, he and his pal Mikal Cronin recorded this quietly released (but ear-shattering) split LP. Like their distant cousins hardcore and '70s punk, Cronin and Segall's refurbished garage jams are neither brooding nor predatory. Stunningly raw--fresh, even--Reverse Shark Attack prowls at the unsuspecting ear instead of tearing at flesh."

By now, you know Segall's music--few artists this side of Robert Pollard are as prolific--and if you don't know Cronin, you will soon, as he recently signed to Merge Records. Go back in time to this album, which was originally released on cassette and vinyl in 2009, with blistering, reverb-soaked tracks like "Drop Dead Baby", "Ramona", "I Wear Black" and "High School".
