Comments: The Fresh & Onlys are as reliable as they are prolific. House of Spirits, their fifth full-length since 2008, is another fine effort from the band, which continues to branch out from its roots in the Bay Area garage scene. Much like 2012's excellent Long Slow Dance, the new LP sees The Fresh & Onlys blending jangly guitar pop with elements of psychedelia and atmospheric pop. And as usual, the band's calling card is the work of frontman Tim Cohen, an oddball songwriter whose lyrics are as endearing as they are absurd.

On House of Spirits, The Fresh & Onlys deliver another great collection of alt-pop.
