Comments: Everything about Mysteries is, well, a mystery. Whether it is the three masked musicians who are identified only as "Mysterie Men," their unknown origins, or their strangely groovy, genre-defying sound, this enigmatic group effortlessly captures the listener's attention. Emphasising vocals and drum beats rather than synths and guitars, Mysteries' debut album New Age Music Is Here takes listeners on a strange journey through hypnotic soundscapes. "Call and Response, With Morals" is a gritty electronic twist on "'50s doo-wop", while "Ev'rything" seduces the listener with a dark cacophony of pop hooks and crashing industrial beats. The song which encapsulates the strange glory of this album is "Authenticity Machine"--a track which dissolves from futuristic Shamanic chants to playful synths and hooks only to return to the tribal vibe by the end of the song. Mysteries succeeds in causing its audience to become completely wrapped up in listening experience. Whoever these artists are, they deserve recognition for this achievement.
