Comments: LA producer/composer Brian Allen Simon continues his work as Anenon with his latest release, Tongue. It was born inside a makeshift studio in the attic of a 16th Century Tuscan villa in Italy. Simon decamped overseas to attempt to find something pure and forgotten — capable of reaching into our DNA coding. Hints of John Cage and Steve Reich suffuse his manipulation of space, time, tension, and mood. Tongue is many things— a jazz album, an electronic album, an ambient album, a modern classical album. This album is packed with personal songs of acceptance constructed from saxophone, piano with synth, and field recording embellishments weaving in and out. Tongue is a self-contained universe, where emotional and intellectual articulation are physically let go. A masterwork of ineffable and profound beauty.
