Comments: Unexpected, engaging, and kind of weird, Noise of the Wing: An Apology for Annoyance by L.A. based UNA one hell of a ride. There is a seamless weaving of pep and spook into every track that keeps you on the edge of your seat. Think the type of variance employed by early Eeels with the soft jazzy vocals of Pink Martini. Start with "One by One" to get a sense of what you're getting yourself into, then just let it happen. I really enjoyed the cadence of "I Want to Believe", which is a lonely piano riff that really plays with texture and rhythm. This one may take a few listens to get used to, but for fans of intellectually engaging music, UNA gives you sounds to think about. Just when you get hooked into a sassy melody, you're thrown off by a melodic electro-beat or a groovy guitar riff. Not for everyone but definitely for someone.
