Comments: Hailing from a tradition of British post-punk-ish music that goes all the way back to the late 70s, These New Puritans' new album Inside The Rose continues where bands like New Order (they're much more New Order than they are Joy Division) left off: the pulsating, distinctly 80s beats are put alongside the sound collages and the stabs of electric guitar that make this music what it is. With a distinctly down-beat, Blade Runner-y aesthetic, the album slinks along in the shadows and gives the listener the feeling of picking through a post-industrial neighborhood looking for a dead drop while smoking a cigarette.
