Artist: Clap Your Hands Say Yeah
Album: New Fragility
Label: Wichita Recordings
Genre: Indie rock, folk rock
Comments: There's a lot to unpack on New Fragility, which holds a lot of criticisms of humanity's current state. Traditional indie rock elements are layered over orchestral themes which give it a pseudo-pop feel at times. My top pick is "CYHSY, 2005," a moving track with a chorus of violin glissandos which make it feel like it should be the closing song of a coming-of-age film from the 2000s, which I think is actually a fair descriptor of the album on the whole: "New Fragility" has the kind of angsty undertones that'll send you into nostalgia.
