Artist: Catbells
Album: Same as You [EP]
Label: SQFT Records
Genre: indie, indie folk
Comments: Catbells describes her style as "dreamy melancholic shoegaze meets alt-pop singer/songwriter," but Same as You shows the artist's first foray into a folk sound. Of course, the EP is full of moments of her trademark poppy sound, particularly in "Same as You," which features a sunny guitar progression. Still, in "Under the Milky Way," the LA-based artist reaches a level of folky tenderness that recalls the early work of preeminent face of indie folk: Sufjan Stevens. You should check out this album if you're a fan of Phoebe Bridgers, the Weather Station, or Skullcrusher.
