Comments: This Philadelphia band is equal parts Bob Dylan and Sonic Youth. That comparison admittedly sounds more than a little absurd, until you hear Wagonwheel Blues. The War on Drugs' songwriting vocals have clearly been influenced by Dylan, Bruce Springsteen, et al, while the guitars and distortion might have been created after a few listens to Daydream Nation. An excellent debut on Secretly Canadian (Jens Lekman, Bodies of Water, Magnolia Electric Co).
