Comments: Double Rainbow is an aural mix of 70s and modern psych rock that also sounds like it was recorded on an airplane (just a bit - that is what Kevin Parker has done anyway right?). Each track is mellow, brilliantly yet simplistically arranged and has a strange "cool" tension that hangs on throughout the listen. Songs like "Darby and Joan" have an Allman Brothers/Grateful Dead-esque rhythm, and the relaxing vocals hover over the entire song. The album is stylistically similar to the likes of other current bands such as King Gizzard, but more approachable. I also don't usually jump into technicality of how record sounds, but given my background I feel obligated: the mixing is superb. The EQ on the guitars and drums provides a lo-fi edge that solidifies the album's character.
